Let There Be Drums is a free celebration of drumming, drummers, music and philanthropy. Join us in our goal to bring together 1,000 drummers in order to help 1,000 deserving Minnesota families.

Close your eyes and imagine a 40-piece all-star Twin Cities band featuring some of the best drummers in the world performing two iconic Rock and Soul songs.  The climactic event will begin with two highlighted moments led by The World’s Most Recorded Drummer, Bernard “Pretty” Purdie.

Bernard and his fabulous rhythm section will first lead a drum kit-filled Harriet Island and the 40-piece through two memorable moments.   First, Mr. Pudie will lead the band and drummers in his signature drum groove, “The Purdie Shuffle”.  After that, Mr. Purdie will initiate the monstrous and funky groove of the Aretha Franklin classic, of which he is the drummer on, ROCK STEADY.

After Bernard’s featured event is complete, the band featuring national drummers such as Jay Williams, (Dave Koz), Jimmy Paxson, (Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie, The Dixie Chicks), Billy Thommes, (Jonny Lang Band), Bobby Vandell, (Lipps Inc and Alexander O’Neal), Mike Arturi, (The Lovin Spoonful) and more, will perform the final medley on The Beatles iconic Abbey Road album.  Imagine the beauty of this large band and potentially 1000 drummers performing GOLDEN SLUMBERS / CARRY THAT WEIGHT and THE END!  It promises to be an emotional and memorable moment for the musicians and those in attendance

If you’re looking for the chance to meet and learn more from the lineup of impressive drummers, join us on September 19 for a trade show, hosted at McNally Smith College of Music.

All proceeds benefit The 30-Days Foundation. The 30-Days Foundation was founded in November 2010 by Twin Cities Musician and Singer-Songwriter, and charitable event producer and creator Mick Sterling.

The 30-Days Foundation celebrates the simple act of kindness by providing one-time financial grants for Minnesota families and individuals in real-life financial crises. All donations are only provided to the service provider in need of payment, not the person requesting assistance.  Since its beginning, The 30-Days Foundation has helped over 70,000 individuals and families in the State of Minnesota.

In addition, The 30-Days Foundation will set aside 30% of all donations for 10-15 Minnesota-based charities in the Metro area who provide much needed assistance, comfort and inspiration to those in need.  Please visit “The Charities” link to find out about all of the charities being helped by LET THERE BE DRUMS
